The All Inclusive 4 Network is an internal advisory group made up of Channel 4 employees across departments, a wide and inclusive body, of unlimited numbers, with at its heart a core number of 10 to 12 people.

The Network plays a valuable role in allowing Channel 4 to take forwards its on-going proactive work around equality, diversity and inclusion. The scope of the network’s remit for discussion and dialogue ranges across the recognised spectrum of the UK diversity agenda, age, faith, ethnicity and race, gender, sexuality and sexual orientation (LGBT), ability and disability, and work life issues.

During Diversity Week, the All Inclusive 4 Network will host an evening event at Channel 4 HQ for individuals who bring a fresh, diverse and unique voice that are considering an entry level break in the off-screen side of the media industry.

Our All Inclusive 4 event will take place on the evening of Tuesday 6 March 2012 focussing on Channel 4’s Internship and Apprenticeship Programmes and how you can stand out during the application process. 

Not only will we discuss how your online application can jump off the page, we will offer valuable and practical tips and techniques about getting that first break. 

The evening will close with the opportunity to network with current Channel 4 apprentices, interns, staff and managers.

 This year the BBC launches the Production Talent Pool (PTP).  The PTP will be a first step on the ladder for nearly 100 ambitious talented people who want a career in broadcast media. Successful PTP candidates are offered short-term, paid work in runner or junior production management roles across the BBC for up to 12 months.  

 The brightest and the best of those will be offered one of 12 places on the BBC’s prestigious Production training scheme which fast tracks individuals across 18 months to become Assistant Producer.

This session is aimed at final year students to give details of the scheme and information about how to apply.

BBC writersroom is always on the lookout for fresh, new, talented writers of any age and experience with an original voice and great stories to tell.
Join us for a workshop with the New Writing Manager for BBC writersroom North which focuses on championing writers from across the north of England and gives lots of practical tips to help your script stand out.

Please note that we would like to offer this opportunity to students who are very interested in writing only, especially those that are interested in submitting an entry for the Award.

 The Workshop will take place in Mediacity from 1pm – 4pm on Friday 20th January 2012.

 The BBC Writersroom Future Talent Award for Writers.

Are you the next Debbie Horsfield or Paul Abbott? BBC North Developing Talent in partnership with BBC Writersroom is delighted to announce this development opportunity for student/recent graduate drama writers.

 We would like to invite students from all departments at each of the BBC North Developing Talent partner organisations to submit their TV drama scripts, to be read and considered by our team of professional readers. We want you to THINK BIG and tell the Northern Story in a TV script that could be stand-alone, or the first part of a bigger series. From Tyneside to Merseyside , take us to worlds and workplaces that we haven’t seen before.

 One student will be awarded the BBC Writersroom Future Talent Award for Writers and will be given development opportunities and mentoring within the BBC, including taking part in our Headspace Writer in Residence scheme. Other exciting voices to emerge as a result of this opportunity will also be given development opportunities and training as appropriate. The top 3 writers will be given a full professional report on their work and will have the opportunity to meet the team from BBC Drama North to discuss their script.

 The Criteria:

 Scripts must be between 30 and 90 minutes long

• Scripts must be by students/recent graduates from one of the BBC North Developing Talent partner organisations in the North of England
• Scripts must be written for TV Drama
• Submissions will be considered as per our usual guidelines http://www.bbc.co.uk/writersroom/writing/submissions.shtml they should not have been submitted previously to BBC writersroom.
• There is no limit on the number of scripts that can be submitted from each partner organisation. These can also be scripts by students who graduated in 2010.
• Scripts can be submitted either by the writer or the organisation. Alongside the script please include the name of the partner organisation, contact details and a few lines about the writer.
• There is a maximum of one script entry per writer.
• The deadline for submissions is December 15^th at 5pm.
• The award will be announced to the shortlisted writers at The Partnerships event in early 2012

On the 20th January, Literature Northwest is hosting a seminar on eBook production, with Nigel Marsh, Director of Publishing Services at Faber and Faber.

Nigel will be speaking about conversion to digital formats, the distribution of these assets to retailers, and what the Faber Factory Service has to offer independent publishers.

This seminar will be suitable for independent publishers of all sizes who are digitizing their lists (or who anticipate doing so in future). It offers the opportunity to put your questions to one of the most experienced digital production directors in the independent sector.

Nigel has worked on the production side of publishing for over 25 years. He started in Production at Edward Arnold, which was bought by Hodder & Stoughton. He then moved to Methuen Academic, which became Routledge and then Taylor & Francis. Nigel joined Faber and Faber in 2000. He is currently Director of Publishing Services, where he has a number of responsibilities, one of which is being part of the Faber Factorywhich was set up in 2010 as an ebook distribution service for independent publishers.
