Want to work with BBC Sport to cover the World Cup?

You’ll need to get in quick!

The BBC is offering students a day of workshops led by BBC Sport presenters and senior production staff: their chance to learn first hand from the pros about commentating, footballers turned pundits, sports press conferences and standing up football rumours.

It’ll be hosted by the editor of the World Cup for the BBC and the Match of the Day editor… and at the end of the day we’ll launch our World Cup Challenge – so students can apply for the chance for work placements during this summer’s big event. There are opportunities up for grabs within Radio Sport, Sports Interactive, and the Sports Newsroom.

If you love football, this is a fantastic – and rare – opportunity for real access and experience.

The workshop day will be held at the BBC in Manchester on 4th March 2010 between 10.30 and 4.30pm.

There are only 15 places available.

Please reply by 3rd February at the latest, explaining why you should be selected for this opportunity, to anna.lomas@manchester.ac.uk.

Next event: ‘The Social Media Revolution’ – Wed 3rd Feb

Yes, social media and the internet have transformed the media sector in the last few years, something which is also having a huge impact on the number and types of jobs available. So our next Media Club session on Wed 3rd Feb 5-7pm with Rob Brown, MD of PR agency Staniforth and author of the book ‘Public Relations and the Social Web’, is one not to be missed!
